SPRING MEETING 2015
The Haslemere Society spring meeting on 17th April brought the charms of spring into focus with Cherrill Sands, the well-known Surrey garden historian, taking members and guests photographically through some of the garden themes and fashions since the time of the First World War, embracing Arts & Crafts, Japanese gardens, roof gardens, restoration gardens, art-influenced, ecological, conceptual and millennium gardens. Who would have thought there could be so much innovation in just a few years? Over 100 people attended the event.
Before the talk Chairman Jane Stopford-Russell gave us an update on the Haslemere Society activities and its dynamic new website, now including Facebook and the weekly Forgotten Photo Friday. She reminded members of the annual outing in July to Canine Partners for the Disabled and the guided tour of Chichester City Walls, and also the peripatetic summer party to be held this year at St Christopher’s Church. Afterwards we enjoyed the company of others while feasting on canapés provided Gilly's and a glass or two of wine.
